Queenstown To Arrowtown Or Gibbston Valley

Full Day Ride on the Queenstown Trail

Start From Our Shop 34 or 45 km Ride Hilly Terrain Return Shuttle Only

Ride Description

This full day ride package starts by collecting your bike or E-bike from our shop in the heart of Queenstown (3 Searle Lane). We’ll get you set up with everything you need, including a helmet and map, and give some trail tips.

The route starts by riding the shoreline of Lake Whakatipu out to Frankton. From there you’ll join the awesome Twin Rivers Trail, which follows the Kawarau and Shotover Rivers. You’ll cross over the historic Old Shotover Bridge, one of Queenstown’s greatest landmarks, which has outstanding views of both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables ski areas. Once you reach the Morven Ferry Intersection, it’s then your choice to either head north and finish your ride in Arrowtown, or south-eastward into the Gibbston Wine Valley. We’ll collect you for your shuttle transport back to Queenstown at the end of your ride.

This ride is on wide gravel trails, mostly grade 2 (Easy) with a few small sections of grade 3 (Intermediate). There are some decent hills on the Twin Rivers Trail, so this ride is recommended for confident and capable riders.

Over the summer schedule (Sept to Apr), check-in for this ride is at Around The Basin’s shop at 9:45 am or 10:15 am.

Ride Prices

Which Direction?

While this route can be completed in either direction, most riders prefer the Arrowtown To Queenstown ride package, as it allows for a flexible finish time. Arrowtown also sits at a higher elevation than Queenstown.

It’s also worth looking into the Arrowtown To Arthur’s Point ride package, which rides on the new Wharehuanui Trail.

E-bikes Are Recommended

We are yet to hear anyone say “I wish I never upgraded to an electric bike”, but we have certainly heard the opposite! Guarantee the good times, keep your group together and have a fun day out there. E-bikes are a game changer and make this ride so much more fun!
