Electric Vs Analogue

Hiring a bike from our central Queenstown shop is a flexible and fun way to experience the region’s stunning trails –  perfect for independent adventurers or families looking to enjoy a casual ride. With direct access to lakeside trails, gardens, cafes, and scenic river tracks, you can create your own perfect ride from right in town.

For those wanting to unlock the best of the Queenstown Trail, we recommend combining your hire with one of our shuttle options –  letting you explore further without needing to ride back the same way.

What to Expect

Pick up your mountain bike or E-bike from Around The Basin’s Queenstown shop, located at 3 Searle Lane, just off the main street. Our team will get you fitted with a quality bike, helmet, and offer trail tips to help you make the most of your day.

From our shop, ride along the shoreline of Lake Whakatipu, around the Queenstown Gardens, and out to Frankton Beach – a scenic and easy ride with cafes, breweries, and viewpoints along the way. From Frankton, you can choose to:

  • Continue to the Kelvin Peninsula for lake views and picnic spots
  • Follow the Kawarau River Trail to link with the wider Queenstown Trail network
  • Loop back to Queenstown whenever you’re ready

If you’re unsure where to go, our team is happy to help you pick a route based on your time, energy, and interests.
