How to Book the Wineries

Follow the 3 step process below to secure your winery bookings!

Please note that these timings are approximate and based on the average rider. 

Step One - Find the ride you booked

Locate the ride you’ve booked below. Under each ride option, you’ll find the approximate time it takes to reach the start of the Gibbston Wine Region (the Kawarau Bungy Bridge). This will help you plan your day and schedule winery bookings accordingly.

Bike The Wineries Full Day

You’re booked on the Bike The Wineries – Full Day Ride, which starts in Arrowtown and finishes in Gibbston Valley.

  • You’ll check in at our Queenstown shop at 9:20 am

  • Shuttle departs at 9:30 am sharp

  • Arrive in Arrowtown and get set up with bikes by 10:15 am

  • You’ll likely get to the Bungy Bridge in around 1.5 to 2 hours –  meaning you’ll be at the start of the winery trail  by 11:45/12:00 pm

Bike The Wineries 3/4 Day

You’re booked on the Bike The Wineries – ¾ Day Ride, which starts at Arrow Junction and finishes in Gibbston Valley.

  • Check in at our Queenstown shop at 10:20 am

  • Shuttle departs at 10:30 am sharp

  • Arrive at Arrow Junction and be ready to ride by around 11:15 am

  • You’ll ride 7 km along riverside trails, crossing two suspension bridges on the way to the Kawarau Bungy Bridge — the entrance to the Gibbston Wine Region

  • You’ll likely reach your the Bungy Bridge (start of the winery trail) around 12:00–12:15 pm

From there, you’ll have the afternoon to explore cellar doors, enjoy tastings, and take in the stunning scenery at your own pace.

Bike The Wineries Half Day

You’re booked on the Bike The Wineries – Half Day Ride, which starts at Arrow Junction and finishes in Gibbston Valley.

  • Check in at our Queenstown shop at 11:50 am

  • Shuttle departs at 12:00 pm sharp

  • Arrive at Arrow Junction and be ready to ride by around 12:45 pm

  • You’ll ride 7 km along riverside trails, crossing two suspension bridges on the way to the Kawarau Bungy Bridge — the entrance to the Gibbston Wine Region

  • You’ll likely reach the start of the winery trail between 1:30–1:45 pm

From there, you’ll have the afternoon to explore cellar doors, enjoy tastings, and relax among the vines before your return shuttle.

Step Two - Timings between wineries

  • AJ Hackett Bungy → Gibbston Valley Winery
     10 minutes

  • Gibbston Valley Winery → Peregrine Wines
    20–30 minutes (longest stretch)

  • Peregrine → Gibbston Tavern / GT Tasting Room
     5 minutes

  • Gibbston Tavern → Kinross
    10 minutes

  • Kinross → The Church Cellar Door
     10 minutes

  • The Church → Waitiri Creek
    7 minutes

  • Waitiri Creek → Mt Rosa
     5 minutes

  • Mt Rosa → Brennan Wines
    5 minutes

Step Three - Booking the Wineries

All wineries in the Gibbston Valley are independently owned and operated, so bookings must be made directly with them.

Below you’ll find key information and website links for each winery to help you plan your visit. We highly recommend booking tastings and lunch in advance, especially during weekends, holidays, or if you’re in a group of 6 or more.

Tasting are normally $20-$30 each. 

Gibbston Valley

An iconic winery known for its wine cave, restaurant, and award-winning Pinot Noir — a great spot for tastings or lunch.

Peregrine Winery

Architecturally stunning and focused on organic practices, Peregrine offers premium wines in a serene setting.

Gibbston Tavern

A rustic, laid-back spot known for woodfired pizzas, local beers, and a relaxed garden setting.

GT Tasting Room

A cosy cellar door offering local wine and gin tastings, plus platters — located next to the Gibbston Tavern.

Kinross

A popular cellar door offering tastings from five boutique wineries, with a fantastic bistro and garden seating — a top spot for lunch.

The Church

A relaxed cellar door in a restored church, offering boutique wine tastings, great food, and outdoor games in a laid-back setting.

Mt Rosa

Known for its bold, small-batch wines, Mt Rosa offers a cosy indoor space and a spacious outdoor area perfect for relaxing with a platter.

Brennan

Known for its award-winning Pinot Noir, this family-run winery offers a cozy cellar door and beautiful outdoor space perfect for tastings and picnics.

Waitiri Creek

Known for its elegant, fruit-driven wines, this boutique winery features a stylish cellar door and peaceful outdoor seating, ideal for enjoying a relaxed tasting experience.
