Electric Vs Analogue

Hiring an Electric Mountain Bike (E-bike) from our central Queenstown shop is the ideal way to explore the Queenstown Trail with more comfort, speed, and fun. Whether you’re looking to cover more distance, keep up with your group, or simply make those hills easier – an E-bike takes your self-guided ride to the next level.

With direct access to the trail network right from town, you can head lakeside, ride to rivers, or link up with iconic sections of the Queenstown Trail – all without needing a shuttle (unless you want one!).

Important Notice:  There is a diversion in place for the Frankton Track Closure which is the main route out of town. You’ll be riding for the first 4km on Pedestrian Footpath up by the Road before dropping down onto the trail.

Collect your E-bike from Around The Basin’s Queenstown shop, located at 3 Searle Lane. Our team will set you up with a premium Electric Mountain Bike, helmet, and offer local trail tips tailored to your ability and interests.

From the shop, cruise along the Lake Whakatipu shoreline, loop around the Queenstown Gardens, and head out along the Frankton Track to Frankton Beach – a flat and scenic ride with coffee spots and breweries along the way.

Feeling adventurous? The extra boost from your E-bike lets you:

  • Ride further to the Kelvin Peninsula Trail for stunning views
  • Follow the Kawarau River Trail toward Arrowtown or Gibbston
  • Explore more of the trail network without backtracking

Our team can help recommend a route to suit your time and energy level.
